I didn’t know it at the time but I fell in love with interior design when I was thirteen.  My parents built a custom home in North Carolina where I grew up, a gorgeous plantation-style home on our family farm.  My mother included me in her meetings with designers, and multiple trips to furniture, appliance, lighting and supply stores (yes, I even found plumbing fixtures exciting).  She let me pick the furnishings for my room, the tile for our bathroom, and the lighting.  After that I knew was in love with designing interior spaces, but it was fashion that led me to launch Higby Design.

I have spent over 20 years in design - from a corporate career in fashion and footwear building brands and bringing new products to market to an entrepreneur designing residential spaces.  My inspiration comes from my travels and local surroundings and my sensibility reflects that – from the runway to architecture, interiors, art, nature, inventive packaging, even my kid’s artwork.

”Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only.  Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening” – Coco Chanel.
